About Pune
Pune, previously known as Poona, is a city in Maharashtra state in Deccan plateau in Western India. It is the administrative headquarters of the Pune district, and of Pune division.
The city of Pune is part of Pune Metropolitan Region (PMR), along with the city of Pimpri-Chinchwad and the three cantonment towns of Pune Camp, Khadki and Dehu Road.
Pune is one of the largest IT hubs in India, and also one of the fastest growing cities in South East Asia. It is also one of the most important automobile and manufacturing hubs of India. Pune is often referred to as "Oxford of the East" because of highly regarded educational institutions in the city.
It has been ranked "the most liveable city in India" several times.

Places to Visit

Shaniwar Wada
Built in 1732,it was the great seat of the Peshwas of the Maratha Empire until 1818. Following the rise of the Maratha Empire, the palace became the center of Indian politics in the 18th century.
The fort itself was largely destroyed in 1828 by an unexplained fire, but the surviving structures are now maintained as a tourist site.

Aga Khan Palace
The mighty edifice of Aga Khan Palace is situated in Pune and was built by Sultan Muhammed Shah Aga Khan III in the year 1892. It is one of the most important landmarks in Indian history and has been instrumental in many defining moments of India's independence. It was once the site where Mahatma Gandhi, his wife Kasturba Gandhi, as well as Sarojini Naidu and Mahadev Desai were held prisoners. Aga Khan Palace is well known both for its architectural excellence as well as its historical significance. Spread over a vast land of 19 acres, the palace is now the headquarters of the Gandhi National Memorial society. Here, making khadi is still one of the prime activities.
The Sultan built the palace to support the poor in the neighbouring areas who were hit by a famine. In the memory of Kasturba Gandhi and Mahadev Desai, architect Charles Corea had their memorials built in the premises of the palace. The palace houses a museum which holds a rich collection of pictures. There are also other items like the personal belongings of Gandhi. The Palace also has the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi buried in its ground. In 2003, the monument was declared to be of national importance.

Located in the Koregaon Park in Pune, Osho Ashram was founded by the Rajneesh Chandra Mohan Jain, who is popularly famous as Osho Rajneesh. Also known as, Osho Commune International of Pune, this ashram is spread across an area of 32 acres. Dagadusheth Halwai Ganapati Temple
Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati – the most endearing deity to the devotees. Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati is the epitome of pride and honor to the city of Pune. Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum
It is the one-man collection of Late Dr. D.G. Kelkar (1896 -1990). 'Kaka', as Dr. Kelkar was affectionately known dedicated his collection to the memory of his only son `Raja’ who died an untimely death. It is a collection about 22,000 priceless artifacts which mirror the everyday life of India. A testimony to man’s creative spirit - the spirit that breaths beauty into the banal, and puts romance into the mundane. Kaka was a man obsessed with art. A man who, for over sixty years, traveled extensively across the country - to obscure villages and tribal settlements, to grand temples and humble huts, to forgotten attics and folk fares - collecting .. always collecting.
